Whoa

This book was very fun to read. I really didn't relate to it at first because I didn't understand the characters; I didn't understand how people could be so childish, but I guess that's what having filthy rich parents does to a person. When I saw the movie I understood better what Fitzgerald tried to get across in the book, even though the movie wasn't that great. Then I read the book again and enjoyed it a lot more. It is very, very good, a perfect representation of what I felt about the life and characters of the '20s.

The book "The Great Gatsby" is a portryal of the American dream in its entirety. The book keep the reader motivated with its flowing writing, and it's constant change of action and scenery. The book is comparable with many other great works based upon the fact that Fitzgerald used many symbolisms in the novel that are relevant in todays world. His characters depict both the good and morally corrupt; thereby, making it relevant to all who read it no matter there background our financial status.
Although this book never really caught on at when it was first published, it now is winning greater accolades and will remain to be one of America's greatest classics.

I tried to check the following three items : Adansonia digitata, Ceiba pentandra, and Moabi, that are three of the most famous trees of Africa, and I was absolutely delighted to read a lot of very accurate, scientific information about them. There are also ethno-botanic and ethno-linguistic data, many vernacular names etc. The whole six vol. set is wonderful.

RAINER KENSY is Senior Member in charge of investment solutions and alternative assets of the Family Office at UBS AG. He has over 12 years experience in equity sales, product structuring and portfolio management at Merrill Lynch, Credit Suisse and Salomon Brothers in Germany, Japan and Switzerland. He has a MBA from the University of Masssachusetts and Ph.D. in Financial Economics from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. He has written more than 30 international publications, including two books.

Interesting reading. Timely. Though the first part is too academic and lofty, the conclusions of the second part(Japan: a success or not) is quite stimulating. This is very different reading from the usual Porter-like books of the academic Japan-bashing. And it is a non-US biased view. Induces to think the usual surface arguments about why Japan is doomed and dead. Quite creative in arguing for a Japanese pole-position in the next wave of the "New Economy" after the US dot.com craze is now anticlimaxing. Dr. Kensy significantly contributes in an unorthodox way to the ongoing debate on Japan and on the shape of the "Next Economy".

About the Author

Neil Gunningham is Director of the Australian Centre for Environmental Law, Australian National University, Canberra. In 1997 he was Visiting and Senior Fulbright Scholar at the Centre for the Study of Law and Society, University of California, Berkeley. He was previously a Research Fellow at the American Bar Foundation, Chicago.

Richard Johnstone is Associate Professor at the Centre for Employment and Labour Relations Law, University of Melbourne. In 1992 and 1996 he was a visiting scholar at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies at Oxford University.
